Jeff Anderson, O.D.

Jeff has been a member of Boone Iowa Rotary club since 1989. He served as club president in 1994-1995 and has edited the club’s weekly newsletter known as The Buzzer for fifteen years. Jeff was made a Paul Harris Fellow by his club in 1996 and received a second PHF as a Paul Harris Sustaining member in 2007. Jeff has worked an optometrist since 1987 and moved to Boone in 1989. In 1995 he established his own practice known as the Boone Vision Center and he was joined by a partner in 2000. He has been actively involved in numerous community boards and activities. Jeff and Susan, his wife of 25 years, have two daughters; Sarah, who is 22 and was married this past July and Hannah who is 19 and is currently attending Buena Vista University where she is majoring in Theatre Management. Susan works as the office manager and head optician for their practice.
Jeff enjoys running, reading, hiking, watching ice hockey and attending theatre productions.

Darren Fife
Rotary Club of West Des Moines
Darren is an environmental project manager. His current responsibilities include wetland assessments, preparation of underground storage tank closures, soil and groundwater contamination remediation, and development of fuel spill prevention measures. In his job he works closely with other environmental professionals and various regulatory/governmental agencies.
Darren was born in Iowa and has lived here his entire life. He has been married for eight years to his wife, Dena, who was born in New Zealand and is of Maori descent (Ngapuhi). They have two children; a daughter, Olivia, who is five and a son, Rylan, who is four. As a family they practice conservation in various ways including recycling, utilizing rain barrels, and maintaining a wetland in their yard. In addition to spending time with his family Darren enjoys working in his garden, camping, hiking, kayaking, and wine making!

Christina Fernandez-Morrow
Foster Care Recruitment Coordinator
Rotary Club of Des Moines
Christina works as a Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for Lutheran Services in Iowa where she manages a team of recruiters who specialize in finding foster and adoptive homes for children in need across the state of Iowa.
Christina was originally from Chicago where she grew up in a traditional Puerto Rican home and moved to Iowa in 1997 to attend Iowa State University where she received a degree in Marketing. Prior to taking her present position Christina worked in the Multicultural Marketing departments for several businesses and non-profit organizations. She also serves as a volunteer for the Des Moines’ Latino Heritage Festival and has been active in various young professional organizations. Christina and her husband of six years have served as foster parents and this past August adopted a daughter, Ariana, who is now six years old.
Christina and her husband enjoy travelling and this past summer went to South Africa to see the World Cup. She enjoys hobbies including knitting, reading, shopping for produce at the local farmer’s market and going to the park with her dog.

Ginger Shaw
Early Childhood Administrator
Rotary Clubs of Keosauqua
Ginger serves as the administrator for an early childhood program known as Empowerment in two counties in southeastern Iowa which serves the needs of children from birth to age five. She works closely with child care providers, preschools, healthcare providers, family support programs, and the state agencies that oversee them.
Ginger was born in Germany while her parents were serving in the Air Force but she has lived in the Midwest most of her life. She and her partner live in Keokuk (pop. 12,000) along the Mississippi River with her three sons: Navar (19), Aidan (16), and Dakota (13). They are involved in activities ranging from music to art to athletics which keeps her very busy. In addition to spending time with her family Ginger enjoys attending sporting events and live theatre productions. She enjoys buying houses in poor condition and remodeling them into nice family homes—which is time consuming, but very rewarding. Ginger loves to read, enjoys the out of doors, and is looking forward to experiencing the beauty of New Zealand!

Colleen Rogers
Development Director
Rotary Club of Ames
Colleen serves as the Director of Development for the Iowa State University Foundation in the College of Design in Ames, Iowa. In her capacity as development director she travels regionally and nationally to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift donors for the ISU Foundation, working primarily with alumni as a philanthropic advisor.
Colleen is a native Iowan and currently resides in Ames. She graduated from Central College in Pella with a degree in English. Following graduation she taught English in Czech Republic for a time and worked as a journalist in central Iowa. She subsequently received a master’s degree in Environmental Education at Trinity College in Carmarthen, Wales—writing her thesis on “Greening the Campus”. Prior to taking her position with College of Design, Colleen worked for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences for the Sustainable Rural Livelihoods Program. Colleen is the youngest of three daughters and in her free time enjoys travelling, spending time outside, and being involved in natural health and fitness activities.
